Body System/s & Therapeutic Support:  Stress/Blood sugar balance, Relaxation, Metabolism, Weight loss, Pain, Digestion, Immunity, Kidney support.

Health Tip: Use organic Buckwheat Flakes for best nutrition.  Oats have gluten in them (yes even the ‘gluten-free’ kind!) And products such as Oats So Simple are refined and do not keep your blood sugar stable.

Here are some ideas to enhance your therapy value of this recipe:

  • For anxiety, stress relief, relaxation, constipation or cardio support - add ground pumpkin seeds.

  • For cortisol (stress or blood sugar imbalance), brain function, nerve signalling e.g. epilepsy), add sunflower seeds

  • For sleep and quality calcium, add ground almonds

  • For liver and immune support, add ground Brazil nuts

Helpful Tip:  Like oats, buckwheat flakes do not really need to cook…they simply need to rest in hot water to ‘thicken’.  You could take them to work, pop them in a mug, pour over the hot water and leave them to stand.

Can be served with: (stand-alone meal as breakfast)

  1. For those who wish to add 120g of Organic milk instead, please do not use oat, cow, soy or white rice kinds of milk. Goat or sheep milk is fine, or add non-dairy milk from the below list:

    1. Brown rice drink (milk

    2. Almond drink (milk)

    3. Coconut drink (milk)

Method 1: Quick Easy Method - No cooking:

  1. Buckwheat flakes do not really need to cook…they simply need to rest in hot water to ‘thicken’.

  2. Keep checking, adding if necessary, and stirring the hot water, to make sure the flakes absorb the water well and get thick and creamy.

  3. Add the cinnamon and stir well

  4. Leave  for a further approximately 5 minutes until creamy and thick and stir in the maple syrup

  5. Stir in a generous blob of Organic butter

  6. Add a generous handful of organic blueberries (or other fresh/frozen organic berries)

  7. Sprinkle the ground mixed seeds and mix JUST before serving.

PLEASE do not forget the ground seeds as this is an important therapeutic part for protein and oils.

  1. Mix in the milk drinks, or cream if you wish.

Method 2: Cooking (also quick)

  1. Place COLD water in a saucepan – double the quantity (i.e. 2:1 ratio) to Buckwheat flakes

  2. Place on the stove on the LOWEST POSSIBLE heat setting, on the SMALLEST possible ring

  3. Now add the buckwheat flakes and cinnamon to the cold water

  4. Leave to heat up and simmer for about 5 minutes.

  5. Leave  for a further approximately 5 minutes until creamy and thick and stir in the maple syrup

  6. Stir in a generous blob of Organic butter

  7. Stew the apples (and cranberries if you added them) to form a compote to add to the top of each bowl of buckwheat flakes porridge, or cut the apples into chunks and cook with the porridge

  8. And/or add a generous handful of organic blueberries (or other fresh/frozen organic berries)

  9. Sprinkle the ground mixed seeds and mix JUST before serving.

PLEASE do not forget the ground seeds as this is an important therapeutic part for additional protein and good quality omega oils.

  1. Mix in the milk drinks, or fresh organic double cream if you wish.
